Michael had previously been volunteering for many years whilst being a carer for his parents, After they passed away, he was able to secure his first ever job but this was a fixed term contract and came to an end. After this Michael struggled with the affects this had on his confidence and felt unsure on how to proceed. He has now been working closely with his Key Worker to reduce his outgoings, including securing a new SIM card with free minutes and data for six months. Together, they’ve focused on building his confidence, identifying his strengths, and learning how to articulate them effectively in job interviews.

He has taken part in confidence-building sessions that covered identifying transferable skills and preparing for common interview questions. With his Key Worker’s support, Michael has attended multiple employability sessions, helping him better understand job descriptions and formulate responses that highlight his experience and abilities. His resilience has been clear throughout, as he continues to attend job interviews and actively search for the right opportunity. It’s been a pleasure to support Michael, and we’re confident that the right role is just around the corner.

In addition to job search support, Michael has also been developing his digital skills. His Key Worker helped him identify local IT workshops in Tameside, and Michael now regularly attends these sessions. He has registered with Learn My Way and is progressing through its modules to build his digital confidence. Through the personalisation fund, Michael has received a digital tablet and keyboard to support his learning and has enrolled on a digital skills course at Tameside College, starting later this year.
