A group of local women are celebrating a major milestone in their personal journeys, having completed a hands-on healthy cooking session at Dukinfield Hub, the final step in a six-week empowerment programme designed to boost confidence, wellbeing, and life skills.
The participants recently graduated from the Support to Succeed Jigsaw Support Empower Group, delivered at the Women’s & Families Centre. The course provided a safe and encouraging space for women to reflect on their strengths, set goals, and build practical skills like budgeting and self-care.
To mark the end of the programme, the group came together to take on a healthy cooking challenge using an air fryer. Under the guidance of a local facilitator, they created a delicious Cajun chicken dish served with sweet potato chips and a homemade Andalouse sauce.
But the session wasn’t just about the food, it was a celebration of growth, friendship, and newfound confidence. Many of the women shared how they never thought they’d have the courage to cook in front of others or try unfamiliar recipes. Thanks to the Empower group, they now feel ready to take on more challenges, both in and out of the kitchen.
“I wanted to say that the cooking on a budget group was fantastic! It was fun and also helpful in finding creative ways to make delicious meals. I learnt some new things I didn’t know, so that was great. Also, I’m so excited about my new air fryer, it’s a game-changer for quick and healthy cooking,” said participant Ahida Begum.
This inspiring initiative highlights the power of community-led support to unlock confidence, build connections, and help local women take positive steps toward healthier, more empowered lives.
